This has become a very well-loved and well-used recipe in our home over the past couple of months.

I needed a SUPER QUICK gravy recipe for a specific meal I was making one night last month. As always, I had put off meal-prepping until the 11th hour and was really in a bind for time. I couldn’t even run to the store for a jar of gravy or a packet of mix. Miracle of miracles, a lightning quick Google search pulled up this recipe and I managed the pull off the gravy emergency without a hitch.

Better yet? This gravy is SO GOOD. We’ve used it several times since in the short time I’ve had it in my repertoire, and I can see ever going back to the way I used to make gravy. It’s quick, easy, delicious, and I always have the ingredients on hand.

EVERY home cook needs this recipe in their back pocket. Especially with the holidays coming up!

Quick & Easy Bisquick Gravy

Ingredients:

  • 28 ounces chicken stock*
  • 1 chicken boullion cube**
  • 2/3 cup Bisquick baking mix

Directions:

  1. Pour the chicken stock into a blender. Add the boullion cube and the baking mix. Secure the lid and blend until smooth.
  2. Pour the mixture into a soup pot and stir constantly until thickened (depending on the size of the pot or skillet, this could take anywhere from 1-5 minutes).
  3. Remove from heat and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Notes

*I often use water and additional boullion instead of using chicken stock. And I just use the measurements on the side of the blender to measure the amount of liquid I pour in (no need to dirty another dish!).

**I also really like using “Better Than Boullion” Chicken Base. It’s like a gel or a paste instead of a powder or cube. I bought a big jar of it at Costco. You can also find individual packets of a similar product by Knorr. I prefer the jar, because I like to use more than a single serving.

Also worth noting: I often pour the gravy liquid over chicken or sausage in a skillet (as opposed to thickening the gravy in a pot first). It thickens rapidly in a skillet and is ready in no time at all!
