  • 12 wooden skewers
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 tsp black food coloring
  • 3/4 cup water

Directions:

  1. Place apples on baking sheet and poke half way down through the apple with the skewers. Prepare another baking sheet lined with parchment paper either greased or buttered.
  2. Place sugar, corn syrup, water in a sauce pan over medium heat. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Use a candy thermometer to measure temperature and allow mixture to heat till 310ºF and then remove from heat and stir in food coloring until evenly colored.
  3. Dip apples through the hot candy, let excess drip off, and place on greased parchment paper.
