INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 28 ounce canned peaches, drained
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Melt the butter in a 9×13 baking dish. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  2. Make the batter: whisk together the flour, 1 cup sugar, milk, baking powder, salt, and egg. Pour the batter over the melted butter.
  3. Make the filling: stir together the peaches, 1 cup sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Layer the peach filling over the batter (do not stir!).
  4. Bake for 35 minutes, until golden brown on top and no wet batter is visible.
